To accomplish this, use certain words that convey the tone of the book. For example, if your book is a thriller, use words like: haunt, escape, and catch. If it’s a romance, use words like: soul, warmth, longing, etc. Introduce the main characters immediately. The characters are the vehicles in which the reader travels through the conflict and experience the overall theme or message of the story. By introducing the main characters in the first few lines of your blurb, the reader quickly builds an interest in that character and their quest through conflict.

Just looking at a portfolio is not enough to make a final decision on whether to sign a contract with a given designer.
